The journey of this book began in November 2008 when I read the Old Testament story of Jonah followed immediately by the apostle John's first epistle. Suddenly Jonah's hatred toward the people of Nineveh and John's imploring to the early believers to love others incited in me a question I have yet to shake: Am I loving others the way I should, or am I like Jonah, running away from God's command to love my neighbor as myself?
This is the same question I pose to readers with my first book, and I hope you will allow yourself to be vulnerable enough to answer it honestly as you go through this study of Jonah. Though it is intended to be used as a small-group study, with discussion questions ending each chapter, I believe that we are actually more honest with ourselves when alone, and so it may even be more effective when read and contemplated in the presence of only God.
One final thing...You may be wondering about the website name, Infants No More. Ephesians 4:14 says, "Then we will no longer be infants," and the writer of Hebrews said, "Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity." This journey of mine that began in 2008 didn't end when the book was finally published. God has instilled in me a passion to encourage and equip the body of Christ to mature in their faith, to man up and accept the commission Jesus left us with, and to declare that they will be "infants no more" in their spiritual walk. With this book,
my blog that is updated weekly with short devotionals, and the opportunities God gives me to speak in public, I intend to hold nothing back in challenging others to step up in their faith.
Thanks for visiting, and I hope to one day hear back from you in how God is teaching you about loving others.
